Hohenberg tells residents to boil contaminated tap water

Residents in most of Hohenberg must boil tap water for at least three minutes before using it for drinking, food preparation or brushing their teeth, ORF reported. The contamination followed repair work after a burst water pipe.

The precaution applies throughout the market town’s water network, except in the districts of Hofamt and Grabental, the municipality said. It remains in effect until further notice.

Mayor Ferdinand Lerchbaumer said municipal staff were working to remove the contamination and restore water quality. The municipality has asked residents to follow the precautions until a new water test is completed and the drinking water is officially cleared for use.
