A 63-year-old man was seriously injured in an e-bike crash in Großklein, in the Leibnitz district, on Thursday afternoon, ORF reported.
The man, from the Ried im Innkreis district in Upper Austria, was riding in the middle of a cycling group travelling uphill on a municipal road towards Gamlitz at about 4 p.m.
On a steep stretch near a wooded area, he shifted into a lower gear. The front wheel of his e-bike is believed to have lifted when the electric assistance engaged, causing him to fall and injure his left lower leg.
After receiving initial treatment from a rescue team and an emergency doctor, he was taken to LKH Wagna hospital for further care.
