Energie AG reappoints Leonhard Schitter for another five years

Energie AG Oberösterreich has reappointed Leonhard Schitter as chief executive for another five-year term, ORF reported. The company’s supervisory board confirmed the 55-year-old on Tuesday.

Schitter has led the energy company since January 2023. Under his leadership, it launched its “LOOP” strategy, which plans investments of about four billion euros by 2035, mainly in renewable energy, electricity networks and storage. The strategy aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and make energy supplies more secure over the long term.

Projects launched in recent years include the Ebensee pumped-storage power station and the redevelopment of the Traunfall power station. The company has also expanded photovoltaic generation and built a large battery storage facility in Timelkam.

Energie AG is also beginning the search for a new chief technology officer. The current office-holder, Alexander Kirchner, will move to Wien Energie at the start of 2027 and become its chief executive.
