Upper Austrian state councillor and Green Party candidate Stefan Kaineder has relaunched a campaign inviting voters to call his mobile phone, ORF reported. The campaign follows the Greens’ “Da Stefan – da für dich” initiative, which they described as successful during the spring.

The renewed campaign, launched this week, is accompanied by a jingle sung by Kaineder. He said more than 1,000 calls since May had once again shown him that politicians must listen. Many callers were simply “venting their frustration”, he said at a press conference on Tuesday presenting the jingle.

Kaineder said direct conversations were intended to convey “honest appreciation, time and closeness” and help regain lost trust in politics and democracy. He said he hoped this would prevent “a blue state governor” from taking office in Upper Austria.

His expectation for the jingle was that, at best, listeners would be able to sing along with his mobile number. Kaineder sang in rock bands before entering politics. The option of calling him directly is intended to remain available permanently.
