29-year-old dies after falling into stream bed

A 29-year-old man died after falling from a construction container down a steep slope into a stream bed at a building site in Raneburg, Matrei in East Tyrol, ORF reported. He was found several hours later.

The man left the site at around 2 p.m. in a company car to buy a drill. When the other workers finished for the day at about 4.30 p.m., he had not returned.

At around 8.20 p.m., the man’s brother contacted a colleague because he had not come home. The colleague found him in the stream bed below the building site at 9.15 p.m.

Police believe the man fell about 22 metres into the stream bed while working on the construction container after returning late. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are continuing.
