Five injured after car crashes into forest in Tarrenz

Five young men were injured, some seriously, when a car left the road in Tarrenz in Imst district on Saturday evening, ORF reported. The vehicle went about 20 metres down an embankment on the Obtarrenzer Road and came to rest on its roof.

Police said the 24 year old driver was travelling downhill with four passengers aged between 15 and 18 at about 8.30 p.m. The car left the road on a very tight bend, crashed through dense undergrowth and ended up in a wooded area.

All five occupants freed themselves from the vehicle and climbed back to the road, according to the Tarrenz volunteer fire brigade. Firefighters initially also called the Imst fire brigade because it could not be ruled out that people were trapped, but that response was later cancelled.

Ambulances took the injured men to the hospital in Zams and the Innsbruck clinic. The car was heavily damaged.
