Niederösterreich Card records 630,000 summer excursions

The Niederösterreich Card recorded around 630,000 excursions in July and August, surpassing the previous record set in summer 2025, broadcaster ORF reported.

A total of 240,800 cards are currently in circulation, already exceeding the previous season’s record, said Klemens Wögerer, managing director of Niederösterreich-CARD. During the summer holidays, each card was used an average of 2.7 times.

Outdoor swimming pools recorded a 20 percent increase in visits, while mountain railways saw numbers rise by 16 percent. Destinations in the Wiener Alpen recorded 150,000 excursions, while the Mostviertel region recorded around 130,000. The current state exhibition was also popular.

Among the most visited attractions were the Eisgreissler Erlebnispark, the Schneebergbahn railway and Mariazeller Bürgeralpe.

“It is particularly pleasing that our attractions, and therefore businesses and regions throughout the state, are benefiting,” ORF quoted Lower Austria Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner of the Austrian People’s Party as saying.

The coming months are also suitable for excursions, according to Michael Duscher, head of Lower Austria’s tourism organisation. Around 365 attractions will be open until the end of March 2027, with many operating throughout the winter, he said.

The card costs 89 euros for adults, or 84 euros for renewals. For young people born between 2010 and 2020, it costs 48 euros, or 45 euros for renewals. Children under six can use it free of charge. The current season runs until the end of March.
