Truck collision leaves cyclist critically injured in Spittal

A 67 year old racing cyclist was critically injured and resuscitated at the scene after a truck collision in Spittal an der Drau on Tuesday, ORF reported. The 24 year old truck driver is believed to have overlooked him while turning right.

The crash happened at about 8.50 a.m. on Villacher Straße, the B100 road. The driver was travelling east from the west and turned right near a petrol station. At the same time, the cyclist was travelling east on the same route.

The cyclist was struck by the truck’s two right hand axles. A first responder performed resuscitation before the man was flown by the RK1 emergency medical helicopter to Klagenfurt hospital.
