Firefighters handle four calls in 45 minutes in Villach

Villach’s main fire station responded to four incidents within 45 minutes on Thursday evening, ORF reported. The calls involved burnt food, a faulty smoke detector, assistance for an ambulance operation and a cat stuck in a tree.

The first alarm came from a retirement home in Villach, where burnt food triggered the fire alarm. No one was injured, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

While they were still dealing with that incident, firefighters were called to an apartment in the city centre after a home smoke detector went off. As no one was inside, a firefighter climbed onto the balcony using a ladder and entered through the open balcony door. The alarm proved to be false, and the presumably faulty detector was removed.

Before that operation had ended, the crew was called to the Lind district to support emergency medical services.

The fourth call took firefighters to the Fellach district, where an 18 month old male cat named Nacho was stuck about seven metres up a tree. The cat was quickly brought down using an aerial ladder and handed back to its owner.
