Police recover unidentified mountaineer’s body near Tannheim

Police recovered the body of an unidentified mountaineer from the Gaishorn mountain near Tannheim in the Reutte district, ORF reported on Wednesday. The man is believed to have died some time ago after falling through rocky terrain.
Tannheim mountain rescue alerted the Grän police station at about 10.30am last Friday after finding the body. A police helicopter recovered the remains with support from Tannheim mountain rescue.
Investigators believe the man fell about 110 metres through rocky terrain. The Innsbruck Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered an autopsy. His identity has not yet been established.
