VOR raises prices for several tickets

VOR, the public transport association covering Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, is increasing the prices of several tickets from September 1, ORF reported. The changes affect VOR KlimaTickets, annual route passes and youth tickets. The federal government is also raising the contribution paid for apprentice and student free travel.

Prices for the affected tickets are rising by an average of 3.5 percent. The VOR KlimaTicket MetropolRegion, valid in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, now costs 1,019 euros, up from 1,000 euros. The price for senior citizens, young people and holders of special tickets is increasing from 700 to 714 euros.

The VOR KlimaTicket Region, valid in Lower Austria and Burgenland, will cost 552 euros a year at the full rate, compared with 533 euros previously. Senior citizens, young people and people entitled to a special ticket will pay 414 euros instead of 400 euros.

Prices for annual route passes are also increasing by 3.5 percent. The exact price depends on the selected route.

Youth ticket contribution rises nationwide

From September 1, the federal government is raising the contribution for apprentice and student free travel by 10 euros. The VOR Jugendticket will therefore cost 29.60 euros, up from 19.60 euros. It covers travel between a person’s home and school or training institution on school and working days.

The VOR Top-Jugendticket will cost 101 euros instead of 88.60 euros. It provides unlimited travel throughout the year on all public transport association lines in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, including weekends and school holidays.
