Gersdorf, road accident, Styria

A 76-year-old man died in a crash on the B69 in Gersdorf in the Leibnitz district on Monday morning, ORF reported. His car hit a concrete pillar beneath a motorway bridge.

The man was travelling northeast at about 7.30am when he lost control of the vehicle for reasons that remain unclear. Other road users began providing first aid, but an emergency doctor could only confirm the driver’s death. Firefighters had to cut him out of the car.

Police closed the B69 near the crash site for several hours and set up a diversion. The Graz public prosecutor’s office has released the body for burial.
