Women steal jewellery from older couple in Völkermarkt district

Two unidentified women stole jewellery worth several thousand euros from an older couple’s home in the Völkermarkt district on Sunday, ORF reported.

The women entered the couple’s property at about 12.30 p.m. One said she needed to use the toilet, while the other distracted the homeowners. The first woman then took several pieces of jewellery from a chest of drawers inside the house.

One suspect is sturdily built and about 160 to 165 centimetres tall. The other is slim, about 170 centimetres tall, with light, shoulder-length hair and fair skin. She was wearing a light brown or yellowish summer dress with various patterns. Both women spoke only broken German.

Police are asking witnesses or anyone with information about the women’s identities or whereabouts to come forward.
