Zirl advises residents to boil drinking water after storms

Residents of Zirl in the Innsbruck-Land district have been advised to boil their drinking water for the second time this year, ORF reported. The municipality said severe storms in recent days had caused contamination in the drinking water supply.

The market town municipality said it had immediately taken and implemented all necessary measures to resolve the disruption. Water samples were also collected so laboratories can verify that the drinking water meets quality requirements.

Until the laboratory results are available, residents are advised to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before using it. The recommendation applies especially to drinking, cooking and brushing teeth.

The municipality had already appealed for people to save water at the end of July. At the end of June, it also recommended boiling water and conserving supplies after the Schlossbach drinking water reservoir had run dry.
