A roadside inspection in Tyrol found 1,100 legal violations among 221 heavy goods vehicles and their drivers, ORF reported.

Most breaches involved driving and rest periods. Inspectors recorded 788 violations in this category, often finding multiple breaches during a single check. They also found technical defects in 125 vehicles, including problems with brakes, tyres, wheel bearings and lights.

About one in 10 vehicles was overweight. Inspectors recorded nine violations involving dangerous goods and two cases of missing or inadequate load securing. Another 153 violations included evading driving bans and having inadequate equipment.

All drivers took preliminary alcohol tests, and every result was negative, according to the Tyrol State Traffic Department.

The checks took place on November 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Police were supported by technicians from the Tyrolean state government and ASFINAG’s technical inspection unit. Inspections covered motorways, the Arlberg expressway and state roads including the Fern Pass, Reschen, Lofer, Drautal and Zillertal roads.
