Police identify suspect in failed Kirchdorf jeweller burglary
Police have identified an 18-year-old suspect in an attempted break-in at a jeweller’s shop in Kirchdorf an der Krems, ORF reported. The man admitted his involvement during questioning, police said.
The attempt took place at about 3 a.m. on October 26. The suspect is believed to have struck the shop window several times with an emergency hammer, badly damaging the outer pane. The reinforced glass behind it held, and he did not get inside.
He fled on a black electric scooter without taking anything. Repairs to the damaged glazing are expected to cost more than 10,000 euros.
Police in Kirchdorf and Kremsmünster identified the suspect as a Syrian citizen from the district of Kirchdorf. He will be reported to the Steyr public prosecutor’s office.
