Diesel invests €3 million in Oberwart cinema and bowling expansion
ORF reports that Diesel GmbH has invested about three million euros to expand its cinema complex in Oberwart, adding a screening room, a 12-lane bowling alley and more space for food and drink. The expansion has created 17 jobs.
The Styrian family company operates nine cinemas across Austria. Marketing manager Wolfgang Brandner said visitor numbers prompted the expansion. Bowling, he said, was also intended to improve profitability, as cinema alone is no longer enough to attract customers and needs to be paired with other entertainment.
Oberwart Mayor Georg Rosner welcomed the new jobs. The province contributed about 10 percent of the investment, according to Economy Minister Leonhard Schneemann, who said investments help make Burgenland more attractive, secure jobs and create economic value.
At the opening on Thursday, attendees agreed that the expansion would improve the region’s leisure offer.
