A 39-year-old forestry worker was seriously injured in a workplace accident in Göstling an der Ybbs on Thursday, ORF reported. His leg was pulled into a running forestry machine while he was working in alpine terrain.

The man, who is from the Hallein district of Salzburg, was apparently trying to fix a technical fault on a mountain harvester at about 1:45 p.m. He is believed to have slipped and been drawn into the machine.

Two colleagues stopped the machine immediately and called emergency services. The worker was flown by the Christophorus 15 emergency medical helicopter to Linz University Hospital.
