Police search for cyclist after freight train collision
Police are searching for a cyclist who allegedly crossed closed barriers in Bad Aibling and collided with a freight train before leaving the scene, BR reported. It is unclear where he is or whether he was injured.
The collision happened at about 1 a.m. on Thursday at a railway crossing in Bad Aibling, in the district of Rosenheim. The cyclist left without his bicycle, and an extensive search involving about 50 people, including firefighters and Federal Police officers, found no trace of him. Search dogs also failed to locate him.
Police are investigating the cyclist on suspicion of dangerous interference with rail traffic and leaving the scene of an accident. The railway line between Holzkirchen and Rosenheim was closed for about two hours. Police estimated damage to the train and bicycle at a low four-figure sum.
