Car crash after deer strike throws four people into ditch

A 70-year-old Swiss driver crashed into a car stopped in the middle of the road in Pettnau on Wednesday evening, sending the vehicle and four nearby people into a ditch, ORF reported.

At about 9.30pm, a 21-year-old Austrian and his passenger were driving on the Tiroler Straße (B171) when they hit a deer. Two acquaintances of the 21-year-old arrived to secure the crash scene, parked their car in the middle of the road and got out.

The 70-year-old noticed the stopped car too late and collided with it. Three men were injured and taken to Hall in Tirol hospital.

The injured deer ran off after the crash. It was later found lying about 80 metres from the scene and shot by a hunter.
