Police arrest two suspected serial thieves in Villach

Police in Villach arrested two Hungarian men after finding expensive perfumes in their car that were linked to a theft, ORF reported.

Officers stopped the car at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday. It had been flagged in connection with suspected commercial theft. In the boot, they found a box of high-priced perfumes with no proof of purchase. Investigators linked the items to a theft earlier that day at a shop in a Villach shopping centre.

The two men, aged 49 and 53, were arrested. During the investigation, the 49-year-old admitted to six thefts. The stolen goods were seized. After consulting the public prosecutor’s office, police reported the 49-year-old while he remained at liberty. The 53-year-old was transferred to Klagenfurt prison.

Investigators put the total damage at several thousand euros, in the mid four-figure range.
