A collision between two electric scooters in Imst left an 11-year-old boy injured on Monday. Police said the other scooter could reach 74 km/h and was not approved for road use in that form, ORF reported.

The crash happened around midday in the town. A 61-year-old woman was travelling south on Langgasse and turning left when she collided with the boy, who was riding on a cycle path beside a federal road with his mother. The mother was also riding an electric scooter.

The boy was wearing a helmet. He fell and suffered injuries of unspecified severity, and was taken to Zams Hospital after receiving first aid. The woman was not injured.

Police said the woman’s scooter would have to be registered as a moped. She will be reported to authorities.
