A ten-year-old riding an e-scooter was seriously injured after colliding with a car on a pedestrian crossing in Wiener Neustadt on Friday, ORF reported. He was wearing a bicycle helmet.

The boy was riding on a cycle path beside the road in the opposite direction to a car driven by a 76-year-old woman. At a roundabout at the junction of Stadionstraße and Rudolf Kumbein-Gasse, he turned left and tried to cross the road on the crossing, police said.

The boy fell and was taken by ambulance to Wiener Neustadt University Hospital. A medical helicopter then flew him to Klinik Donaustadt in Vienna. The driver was uninjured.
