Driver hits 84-year-old woman on crossing in St Johann

An 84-year-old woman was seriously injured when a small truck struck her on a pedestrian crossing in St Johann in Tirol on Monday morning, ORF reported.

The woman was crossing Hochkönigstraße at about 9.20 a.m. when the truck, driven by a 33-year-old man, hit her. The driver told police he had seen her too late and tried to swerve, but could not avoid the collision.

Firefighters, emergency medical services, a helicopter and police responded. After receiving initial treatment, the woman was flown to Innsbruck Clinic. Police said she had suffered serious injuries.
