Fake Austrian Post SMS asks recipients to update addresses

Monday 2nd November 2026 on 12:15 in Austria

Austrian Post, phishing, scams

Fraudulent text messages posing as the Austrian Post are circulating, asking recipients to update their address details after an alleged failed delivery, ORF’s Carinthia news service reports.

The message says a parcel could not be delivered because the house number was missing and includes a link. Its “eu.cc” ending is the main sign that it may be fake; otherwise, the text looks convincing, even showing a correct Facebook link.

The Austrian Post warns on its website about scams, including fake posting confirmations. Phishing messages can trick people who are expecting a parcel into sharing personal details, addresses, phone numbers, bank details, login credentials or payment information, which scammers may then misuse.

The postal service also points users to Watchlist Internet, where they can paste a copied link to check whether problems have previously been reported with it.
