Italian suspect arrested over 2014 Salzburg bank robbery
A 50-year-old Italian man wanted over a bank robbery in Salzburg has been arrested in Rimini, ORF reported. He was sought under a European arrest warrant.
The man, from the southern Italian city of Foggia, is suspected of taking part in the robbery with accomplices in May 2014. The group allegedly threatened bank employees with a pistol and forced them to lie on the floor before stealing about 310,000 euros.
After his arrest, the suspect was taken to a prison in Ferrara, where he will remain until he is handed over to Austrian authorities.
Investigators in Rimini tracked him down through targeted inquiries and cooperation with an international police coordination service, which had received information that he might be in the Italian province.
