Upper Austria wellness stays differ by 602 euros

A wellness weekend for two in Upper Austria can cost between 498 and 1,100 euros, even at hotels with the same rating, according to a price survey by the Upper Austria Chamber of Labour. ORF reported the findings.

The survey compared the cost of a November weekend in the cheapest double room, including meals. Ratings were based on the Relax Guide Austria 2027. Five hotels were closed for holidays during the period surveyed, and one did not respond.

Two hotels with 12 points in the guide showed the widest contrast: a stay at a hotel in St Georgen im Attergau cost 1,100 euros, while a comparable weekend at a hotel in Grein cost 498 euros. The guide gives average wellness hotels 11 or 12 points, so ratings alone do not indicate how much a stay will cost.

Access to the wellness facilities was included at every hotel surveyed. Most also included half-board, while six offered breakfast only and four offered all-inclusive packages.

Free cancellation was available up to between 90 days and two days before arrival, depending on the hotel.
