Police probe suspected vehicle swap after teenager’s crash

police investigation, Rangersdorf, road accident

A 17-year-old was seriously injured in a moped crash in Rangersdorf on Thursday evening, and police are investigating whether relatives switched vehicles afterwards, ORF reports.

The teenager was travelling from Tresdorf when he fell near an intersection for reasons that remain unclear. Relatives found him a few minutes later, called emergency services and gave first aid. He was taken to Klagenfurt Hospital with serious injuries after receiving initial treatment.

Police said evidence at the scene raised the possibility that another vehicle had been involved. Investigators now suspect the teenager was riding a motorcycle registered to a relative, rather than the moped registered in his name that was initially found at the scene.

Police suspect the vehicle may have been switched to conceal what happened and the possibility that the teenager did not have the required driving licence. The investigation is continuing.
