Carinthian official presses for swift inquiry into school director
Carinthian education official Peter Reichmann has called for a swift conclusion to a disciplinary inquiry into a middle-school director accused of discriminating against female teachers and influencing grades, ORF Kärnten reported.
The director denies the allegations, which first became public in June 2025, according to the report. The director remained in the job despite a reprimand from the Equal Treatment Commission.
School inspectors have monitored the situation since September. The Carinthian Education Directorate said it had received no new complaints.
“Discrimination, bullying and abuse of power have no place in Carinthia’s schools,” Reichmann said. He called for the case to be handled quickly in the interests of those affected, saying eight months was a long time.
The Education Directorate said deadlines must be respected to protect the rights of those involved. Possible outcomes range from a finding that the allegations are unfounded to the director’s removal from the post or dismissal. A decision is expected within a few weeks.
