Police seized more than nine kilograms of cannabis and discovered a cannabis plantation in the garden of a home in Stainz, in the Deutschlandsberg district, ORF reported. Two pensioners suspected of commercial drug trafficking are in pre-trial detention.
The district police command’s drug unit searched the home on 15 October. The 61-year-old woman and 68-year-old man live there together. Officers were supported by the Styria Rapid Intervention Group and other district police units.
The grounds around the house were fitted with several trip hazards that triggered an audible alarm. Police also found a cannabis plantation in the garden.
The two suspects were arrested and taken to Graz-Jakomini prison. They have not admitted to the allegations during questioning.
