Police stop drunk wrong-way driver in Salzburg
Police stopped a heavily intoxicated driver travelling the wrong way on Rudolfskai, a one-way street in Salzburg’s city centre, ORF reported. The 25-year-old was driving towards an oncoming police patrol car when officers pulled him over.
A breath test showed nearly 1.2 parts per thousand of alcohol in his blood. He had to surrender his driving licence and will be reported for several offences.
In a separate incident, police stopped a 43-year-old man from Upper Austria during a vehicle check on Saturday evening. The driver, who held a probationary licence, showed signs of impairment. A breath test measured 0.48 parts per thousand, while a saliva test also returned positive results for cannabis and cocaine.
He refused an examination by an official doctor. Police took away his probationary licence and will report him.
