Hallein, Salzburg, tourism

Joseph Schauer has been elected chairman of the Hallein Tourism Association after his slate won eight of the nine seats on the board. ORF reported that the vote took place on Thursday evening.

Schauer said the new board would work to bring greater stability and order to the association, build on what had gone well and pursue innovative projects. The board also said it wanted to change the tone and bring in fresh momentum.

The previous managing director, Rainer Candido, is not expected to continue in the role under the same arrangement. The association plans to take a new direction, and Schauer said ensuring an orderly transition was important.

Disputes at the association began after Hallein’s city festival this year. The previous board later resigned, making a new election and restructuring necessary. The association’s finances had also been a recurring subject of debate.
