Florian Wieser was elected by a large majority as the new chair of the Central Association of Slovene Organisations in Carinthia on Thursday evening, ORF Kärnten reported. He plans to deepen cooperation with the Council and the Community of Carinthian Slovenes.

Wieser told ORF Kärnten that the goal was to strengthen the joint representation of the Slovene ethnic group. He said resolving differences on substantive issues was the priority, and proposed that the organisations agree on a transitional arrangement to gradually improve their organisational structure.

A working group would help the organisations address problems together. It would also include younger members of the ethnic group, so their concerns and views on the future could be better incorporated.
