Wolfgang Muchitsch, director of the Carinthia State Museum, has won the 2026 Einspieler Prize for including the Slovenian minority and its language in the museum’s redesign, ORF reported.

The award is presented by the Council of Carinthian Slovenes and the Christian Cultural Association. The organisations praised Muchitsch’s “open attitude” and the visible inclusion of the minority and its language in the project.

The award ceremony is scheduled for November 19 in Klagenfurt. Gorazd Živkovič, Carinthia’s state conservator, will deliver the laudation.

Established in 1988, the Einspieler Prize recognises people in public life, science, art and culture who support the interests of the Slovenian minority in Carinthia. It honours people from the majority population in Carinthia and beyond the state’s borders.
