Truck collision derails tram and snarls traffic in Linz

A collision between a truck and a tram in Linz on Wednesday afternoon derailed the tram and reportedly left several people with minor injuries, ORF reported.
The crash happened at 3.42pm on Wiener Straße, near the Wahringer Straße tram stop in Linz-Kleinmünchen. An turning truck struck the tram, forcing it off the tracks. The truck was reportedly carrying earth or gravel.
Images from the scene showed a broken tram window and damage to its right side and front. The truck also suffered heavy damage to its front.
The B1 was partially closed between Lunzer Straße and Wahringer Straße. It was not immediately clear how long the closure would last or how tram services in Linz-Kleinmünchen would be affected.
The Red Cross responded with four vehicles. The number of injured people had not been officially confirmed.
