Austria’s federal rail company ÖBB is seeking apprentices for 45 positions in Lower Austria, ORF reported. Applications have opened for training starting next year, with about 700 places available nationwide across 25 occupations from September 2027.

The apprenticeships cover commercial and technical fields. ÖBB says it is offering particularly many places in track construction technology, electrical and operational technology, and vehicle technology. It is also training freight forwarding clerks.

The company says more young women are choosing apprenticeships with ÖBB and that it is working to encourage more girls to enter technical professions.

People interested in helping shape the future of rail can apply now. ÖBB will also hold an open day in St. Pölten on November 13, where visitors can learn about the work. More than 2,400 young people are currently in training at the company, a record number.
