Callers posing as police target residents in Friesach scam attempts

Several people in Friesach received fraudulent calls from people posing as police officers on Saturday, ORF reported. The callers claimed burglars had been arrested carrying the victims’ personal details.

The callers, who contacted residents in the afternoon, said two burglars had been caught near Friesach with a note listing the personal information of the people they called. They tried to find out what the victims owned, particularly whether they had cash or valuables.

Those contacted recognised the scam, did not provide information and reported the calls to police. No loss has been reported, and police are investigating.
