Two students in East Tyrol have been suspended for two weeks after using an original Hitler speech in the background of a TikTok campaign video, ORF reported.

The 15- and 16-year-olds made the video to promote their campaign for a student council election at a school in Lienz. It featured music by Rammstein and a Hitler speech in its original recording. The video was reported to police, and the Tiroler Tageszeitung first covered the case.

The State Security Service and local police are investigating and checking the students’ surroundings for further evidence. Prosecutors are also examining the case to determine whether the video constitutes the offence of Nazi re-engagement.

The regional education directorate suspended the students for two weeks. They are to receive psychological and educational support during that period. The penalty for Nazi re-engagement ranges from six months to 20 years in prison, depending on the severity of the offence.
