Police say man stabbed partner’s ex in Vienna

A 36-year-old man allegedly stabbed his partner’s 39-year-old ex-boyfriend on a Vienna street, leaving him seriously injured and in need of emergency surgery, ORF reported.

The attack happened at about 11 p.m. on Nußdorfer Lände. Shortly beforehand, the woman and her former partner had left a house together. She told police they had been discussing business matters in her apartment.

The victim suffered injuries to his legs and back. Vienna’s professional ambulance service treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital.

The suspect initially fled but later returned to the scene and was arrested. The suspected weapon was found in a nearby bush. Police said he broadly admitted to the attack during initial questioning.
