Klagenfurt hosts its first security technology expo

Wednesday 14th October 2026 on 13:15 in Austria

Klagenfurt, Security, technology

Klagenfurt is hosting its first security technology expo on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing together companies, experts and public-sector representatives to present new approaches to security and prevention, ORF reported.

The opening day featured a keynote by Andreas Holzer, director of Austria’s Federal Criminal Police Office, on security in an era of permanent crises. A panel discussion examined whether systems remain manageable amid overlapping crises.

The Austrian Road Safety Board is also presenting expert talks, including a study by Patricia Rosenauer on the motives and methods behind burglaries, based on interviews with people serving prison sentences.

One focus is monitoring construction sites, which are regularly targeted by thieves. Thomas Meyer, a project manager at Vido, presented a mobile unit combining solar power, a fuel cell, cameras and radar. It can monitor sites where staffed security is not available.

If an unauthorised person enters a monitored site, the system sends a live feed to security staff over a 5G connection using a SIM card. Staff can then contact police or take other measures. Recordings can be reviewed by insurers or police and are stored for between three days and three weeks, depending on the transmission and location.

The expo is billed by the state of Carinthia as a platform for security technology, prevention and resilience in the Alpine-Adriatic region.
