The Hard Rock Cafe in Innsbruck will close permanently, ORF reported, after its operator became insolvent with debts of 600,000 euros. The operator cited rising prices and extreme heat as reasons for the business’s difficulties.
The operator said revenue from July to September was about 20 percent below the same period last year, blaming a prolonged heatwave and consumers’ reluctance to spend as prices rose. The cafe’s 31 employees will lose their jobs.
The restaurant had already entered insolvency proceedings in 2025 and agreed on a restructuring plan, but it failed to meet the agreed instalment payments.
The insolvency administrator also expected revenue to fall by 25 percent because the outdoor dining area, which the operator rents from the city and has about 100 seats, was likely to become unavailable from the end of October. The insolvency association KSV1870 said this made it impossible to continue operating during the proceedings.
