A man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Monday at the Klagenfurt Regional Court over the alleged sexual abuse of his step-granddaughter, ORF reported. The judgment is not final.

Prosecutors said the abuse took place between 2017 and 2024 at several locations in the Klagenfurt-Land district and in Germany. The girl is still suffering from the injuries, according to the indictment. The man was also accused of possessing child sexual abuse material.

A panel of lay judges, led by Judge Gernot Kugi, imposed the sentence. The maximum sentence was 15 years. The defendant appealed.
