Search near Erding finds no trace of suspected puma
Police have found no evidence of a puma after searching near Erding, BR reported Monday. A helicopter equipped with a thermal imaging camera spotted numerous deer but no cats or signs of prey.
The latest search followed a report of a suspicious animal in the municipality of Oberding at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police said the sighting could not be confirmed. A mounted police unit also found no signs of a big cat while searching the Notzingermoos nature reserve on Saturday.
Wildlife cameras in the moor and aerial thermal imaging have recorded other animals, but no cat species, police said. The area remains under observation.
A hunter filmed a suspicious animal through a night-vision device late Tuesday. After reviewing the footage, an expert said it could show a puma. Police have since searched on foot and with drones, helicopters and dogs, but have found no animal or tracks.
