A 20-year-old man died after his car left a road in Pressbaum early Sunday, ORF reported, in one of two serious crashes in Lower Austria over the weekend.

The driver, from Lower Austria, left the L 2129 for reasons that remain unclear and hit two trees in a wooded area, police said. He was thrown from the car and could not be saved.

In a separate crash late Saturday, a 54-year-old motorcyclist from Horn district left the road near Nonndorf bei Gars for an unknown reason and hit a bend marker. The motorcycle overturned, throwing him into a field with serious injuries.

Passing motorists found the rider and called for help. He was flown by emergency medical helicopter Christophorus 2 to St. Pölten University Hospital.
