Armed suspects flee after Innsbruck gun shop break-in

Several suspects are being sought near Mittenwald after allegedly stealing firearms from a gun shop in Innsbruck, BR reported. Their getaway car crashed, and police warned that they may be armed.

The break-in took place at about 6 a.m. on Friday. The intruders smashed display cases inside the shop and apparently took several weapons. Police have not yet established exactly how they carried out the break-in.

The suspects drove across the border into Bavaria, but their vehicle crashed in the Mittenwald area. They then continued on foot. Numerous officers and a police helicopter were searching for them.

South Upper Bavaria Police Headquarters said it could not rule out that the suspects were armed. Police advised the public not to approach anyone acting suspiciously and to report information by emergency call or to the nearest police station.
