Tierschutz Austria has criticized gold jackal hunting in Carinthia after a court ruled the hunting season was not legally established, ORF reported. The animal welfare group is calling on the state government to tell hunters that shooting gold jackals has not been permitted since October 1.
In March, the Carinthia Administrative Court ruled that the season, set to run from October 1 to March 15, had not been introduced in compliance with the law. The court fully upheld a complaint from Tierschutz Austria.
Separately, three wolves classified as causing damage were removed in the district of Hermagor between July 1 and September 30, according to a quarterly report on wolf activity in Carinthia. The report said the wolves had killed or injured animals, or directly attacked them. A total of 15 wolves have been removed in Carinthia this year.
