Three women were injured in a collision on the Rosental federal highway in Finkenstein, in the Villach Land district, on Thursday evening. The 57-year-old driver was found to be moderately intoxicated, ORF reported.
At about 6.45 p.m., the woman was driving east through Finkenstein when her car crossed into the oncoming lane for reasons that remain unclear and collided with a car driven by a 47-year-old woman. Both drivers and the other car’s 55-year-old passenger suffered injuries of unspecified severity. Ambulance crews took them to Villach Regional Hospital.
Police temporarily confiscated the 57-year-old’s driving licence. Investigators have not yet established the full circumstances of the crash.
The road was closed to all traffic for about an hour and a half. Four police patrols and firefighters from Fürnitz and Gödersdorf took part in securing the scene and clearing the road. Five vehicles and 37 firefighters were deployed.
