Twelve-year-old in critical condition after Vienna e-scooter crash

A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after an e-scooter crash in Vienna’s Donaustadt district on Monday, ORF reported. He had been riding with an unidentified youth, who allegedly left the scene after the crash.

The two were travelling on an e-scooter along a parallel road to Pfalzgasse late on Monday afternoon when, according to a witness, the scooter suddenly struck the kerb. Both riders fell, but the 12-year-old remained on the ground.

The witness went to help and asked the alleged teenage rider to assist. Instead, the youth got back on the e-scooter and rode away, police said.

Vienna’s professional emergency service treated the boy for serious head injuries before taking him to hospital. His treating doctor said he was in critical condition.
