Flatbed truck crashes into park bench, seriously injuring woman

A 41-year-old woman was seriously injured when a flatbed truck hit a park bench in Heiligenkreuz in the Baden district on Monday, ORF reported. She was sitting on the bench at a bus stop when the crash occurred.

The truck had first collided with a car driven by an 88-year-old woman before hitting the bench and overturning. The 88-year-old, who is also from the Baden district, was unhurt.

Firefighters freed the 58-year-old truck driver, who is from the Tulln district. He suffered minor injuries and was treated at Baden State Hospital.

The injured woman was flown by the Christophorus 3 emergency medical helicopter to Wiener Neustadt University Hospital, police said on Tuesday.
