A 13-year-old girl was injured after colliding with a car while riding an unregistered electric go-kart in Reingers, in the Gmünd district, on Monday, ORF reported.
Police said the crash happened at about 4.35 p.m. The girl apparently wanted to cross the B5 but failed to see a car driven by a 36-year-old woman. She entered the road and collided with the vehicle, suffering injuries of unspecified severity.
An emergency medical helicopter flew the girl to Horn State Hospital. The car driver was unhurt.
Another crash on Monday injured three people on the West Autobahn A1 near Schollach, in the Melk district. Police said an articulated lorry veered out of its lane because of a tyre defect. The lorry then pushed two cars against the concrete barrier.
A 68-year-old passenger in one of the cars suffered serious injuries. A 73-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman in the second car sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to hospital.
